Precious gift

-

I’D ENCOURAGE the reader who lost a bracelet with great sentimental meaning in a burglary (Letters) not to give up looking for it.

When my Mum moved into a care home, she brought a pottery cottage I had given my parents for their silver wedding. When she died, I was so upset this gift had vanished, taken by someone for whom it meant nothing.

It played on my mind for the next 12 years until February, when I was browsing in a local charity shop and spotted it on the bric-a-brac shelf, on sale for £2.

I knew it was the same one because I collect pottery and have kept a log book of maker’s marks and numbers. Mum’s cottage home at last! JANET STURMAN, Cottingham, Leics.
