Instagram star cleans up with 160k book sales

A SOCIAL media star famed for her cleaning tips has seen her debut book become the second-fastest selling non-fiction work of all time.

The book by Sophie Hinchliffe, better known as ‘Mrs Hinch’, sold 160,302 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen. Hinch Yourself Happy, which has everyday cleaning tips, beat Sir Alex Ferguson (115,000) and Michelle Obama (92,000) for single-week sales.

Essex hairdresser Mrs Hinch, 28, who has 2.3million Instagram followers, saw her book shoot to the top of the non-fiction charts just eight hours after it was released last Thursday.

The expectant mother picks up cleaning supplies from shops like Poundland and names them to make cleaning more ‘fun’.

It follows the success of diet cookbook Pinch Of Nom – written by food bloggers Kay Featherstone and Kate Allinson – which sold 210,506 in a week last month.
