New bounce with turmeric

Older dogs get active with breakthrough supplement

-

THANKS to a new supplement, dog lovers are giving their pets the same level of joint care they’d wish for themselves — and are sharing their stories.

A supplement company based in Cambridge has created a new, easy-to-absorb turmeric product for dogs.

The firm has long sold a scientifically proven product for humans containing an Indian spice commonly used in joint health supplements. Not long after launching it, the company started to receive interesting feedback on the product.

‘A lot of customers started telling us that they were giving turmeric to their pets after experiencing the benefits for themselves — horses, cats, even a parrot in one case. However, most

of them were sharing it with their dogs,’ says chief executive Adam Cleevely.

‘ The feedback was so positive that we decided to create a special formulation.

‘We know that dogs in the UK are living longer, just like their owners. They need the same help to deal with issues we all experience with age.’ The new version of the turmeric formulation is designed specifically for pets.

That means it is easier to absorb than other turmeric supplements, works in a natural way, and delivers the right amount of the active ingredient for your dog. It is now on the market following a pre-release involving the dogs of customers.

Brian and Julie Cully (pictured left), from Scotland, gave the formulation to their border collie, Blue, after they both experienced good results from the turmeric supplement.

‘It is tremendous to see her now. You can see the relief in her face. She’s like a different dog,’ says Brian.

Blue has stopped limping on her right side and is more active in the house. Better still, she is now happy to play with the couple’s two younger dogs.

Former vet Pooler Leeman and his wife Polly, from Northern Ireland, experienced similar improvements with their chocolate labrador, Whiskey. After taking turmeric for only a week, Whiskey is keeping up with them during walks rather than lagging behind, as he was before.

‘Like most ten-year-old labs he has some problems. He is more bouncy after one week on tablets,’ says Pooler.

‘There’s no placebo effect with this,’ adds Cleevely. ‘When you give a supplement to your dog, you can tell if it is working, based on their behaviour. We’re thrilled that some of our customers are seeing such positive changes, and that we’re helping these dogs to stay happy and active for years to come.’
