Rolls speeds up jet tests
ROLLS-ROYCE is to speed up checks of its Trent 1000 TEN engines, a week after Singapore Airlines grounded two Boeing 787 Dreamliners over safety concerns.
Engineers will carry out inspections over the next few months, after talks with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
The engines have been dogged with issues since they went into use in 2017.
Rolls-Royce said: ‘Blade deterioration is a known issue but it is occurring faster than we expected on some engines.’
It says the cost of fixing the problems could reach £1.5bn over five years.
Rolls-Royce shares fell 1.1pc, or 9.8p, to 889p.
