Too Darn Hot misses trial run

- MARCUS TOWNEND

TOO DARN HOT, strong favourite for next month’s 2,000 Guineas, will miss his trial run at Newbury on Saturday with a leg problem. Trainer John Gosden reported the unbeaten colt owned by composer Lord Lloyd Webber was found to have heat in a splint bone when checked over at evening stables last night. Too Darn Hot, the mount of Frankie Dettori, was due to run in Saturday’s Greenham Stakes. Gosden said the plan now would be to go straight to the Guineas at Newmarket on May 4. But Coral eased Too Darn Hot’s odds for the first Classic of the season to 6-5 favourite from 11-10.
