Feeling all right now... first picture of Sir Mick after his heart surgery

- By Sami Quadri

HE faces an extended period of rest as he recovers from heart surgery.

But Sir Mick Jagger delighted millions of fans yesterday after he posted the first picture of himself since having a valve replaced.

The 75-year-old Rolling Stones singer cut a casual figure in a cap, blue shirt and Nike shoes, and added the caption: ‘A walk in the park!’

Fans from across the world flooded his Instagram page with supportive messages – including his model daughter Georgia May, who wrote: ‘Love you Dada.’

Sir Mick was operated on in New York last week after the Stones had announced that they were postponing all 17 of their North American tour dates to allow him to receive medical treatment.

Before the operation the father of eight was spotted on a beach in Miami with family members including his 2-year-old girlfriend Melanie Hamrick and Georgia, 27.

Then on April 5 he tweeted: ‘Thank you everyone for all your messages of support, I’m feeling much better now and on the mend – and also thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job.’ He is thought to have avoided major surgery by having a procedure in which doctors repair damaged heart valves with a catheter which is inserted through a major artery, meaning there is no need to open a patient’s chest. Sir Mick had said he was ‘devastated’ at having to postpone the tour, which was due to start in Miami on April 20. It will now begin in July.
