JOSE MOURINHO can be permitted a sly grin at Pep Guardiola’s statement Manchester City are going for a quintuple, not a quadruple, this season. Guardiola counts the Community Shield among two trophies his team have already won. Mourinho (right) started the notion that the Community Shield was in fact the English Super Cup, and not a pre-season friendly. He always spoke of it as a trophy and a marker laid down and, over time, the dynamic changed. Now English football has a meaningful curtain raiser, and is much the better for it.
