Bolton owner’s not fit or proper
BOLTON’S chairman’s suite had to make do without pre-match hospitality on Saturday.
Owner Ken Anderson probably thinks that’s hardship. ‘The players have only been paid late three times,’ he said in the build-up to the match, bemoaning talk of a strike. It shows how out of touch he is. Footballers may have big houses, but they have big mortgages too. And mortgage payments are linked to payday, as are many household bills. So delays in salary can cause chaos in domestic finance, defaults, direct debits unpaid, overdrafts, bank charges. For it to happen just once can be hugely inconvenient — but three times is unacceptable. If Anderson doesn’t understand this he shouldn’t be trusted with a Christmas club, let alone a football club.
