Former wife’s nickname for Johnny after ‘violent rages’
JOHNNY Depp’s ex-wife called him ‘the Monster’ because of the way he changed during aggressive outbursts, court documents have claimed.
In bombshell legal papers filed this week, actress Amber Heard alleged the Pirates of the Caribbean star would become ‘a totally different person, often delusional and violent’.
She said: ‘ We called that version of Johnny “the Monster”.’ Elsewhere in the legal papers Miss Heard, 32, alleges Depp, 55, tried to strangle her, pulled her by the hair, trashed her apartment and left her fearing for her life.
The claims come amid a legal row between the couple who wed in 2015 and divorced in 2017. Depp is suing his exwife for £38million following a column she penned for The Washington Post.
In the piece, she spoke of suffering ‘sexual violence’ – but did not name the actor. Depp claims the column amounted to defamation and he lost work as a result. The new legal papers provide a series of examples of alleged abuse by the American heart-throb, whose fortune was once estimated at £497million.
Miss Heard claims she previously avoided recounting Depp’s ‘ violence against me’ because of a confidentiality agreement as part of the divorce.
Depp vehemently denies her allegations. The actress claims many of his outbursts were drug or alcohol-fuelled. Describing one altercation, she wrote in a statement to court: ‘I remember being afraid that Johnny might not know when to stop and that he might kill me.’ Pictures from an alleged rampage show Miss Heard’s clothing room in her £ 2.2million Los Angeles pent house turned upside down with broken racks and designer garments and shoes strewn across the floor.
Other images show pictures of clumps of Miss Heard’s hair, allegedly pulled out by Depp and a mark on her scalp after it is claimed she was punched in the head. She has previously shown bruising caused around by Depp. her face allegedly She recounts how he once ‘shoved’ her onto a ping pong table, causing it to collapse and broke several window panes in the process.’ She adds: ‘He tore the nightgown off and at some point, I was naked and barefoot, covered in alcohol and glass.’ It is alleged Depp grabbed her by the collarbone and began to strangle her.
Miss Heard says she was ‘scared for my life’ and ‘barricaded’ herself in a bedroom. The dossier also contains grovelling texts, allegedly from actor, in which he called himself a ‘f****** savage’ and wrote: ‘Once again, I find myself in a place of shame and regret. Of course, I am sorry. I really don’t know why or what happened. But I will never do it again.’ Miss Heard also claims Depp was so hooked on drugs that he had medics living at his home. On one night alone, he is said to have taken eight ecstasy pills. The legal mudslinging between the pair has ramped up in the defamation battle. Depp has alleged Miss Heard cheated on him with Tesla billionaire Elon Musk.
