Home at last, mum held for Dubai ‘ horse’ slur

- By Inderdeep Bains

THE mother held in Dubai after call- ing her ex-husband’s wife a ‘horse’ on Facebook was finally reunited with her daughter yesterday.

Laleh Shahravesh, 55, flew into Heathrow in the early hours. Waiting with flowers was Paris, 14, who burst into tears upon her arrival. She had not seen her mother for a month.

Miss Shahravesh said: ‘It’s been the most horrendous period of my life. I’ve never been separated from Paris in this way and every day part of me was dying ... I’m just really happy to be reunited with my daughter.’

Miss Shahravesh, from Richmond, was arrested in March and ordered not to leave Dubai after Samah al Hammadi, below, complained about online abuse dating back to 2016. Miss Shahravesh had flown out with Paris to attend the funeral of her exhusband – Paris’s father. She was detained under Dubai’s strict laws on cyber crime, and threatened with up to two years’ jail and a £50,000 fine. However, on Thursday she was told she was free to go after paying just £600, despite being convicted of two charges of using the internet to insult and threaten.
