Three killed in ‘wrong-way’ slip road crash

THREE people have died after their car collided head-on with a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road.

Police believe the driver who was heading the wrong way could have been under the influence of drink or drugs during the crash in Peterborou­gh early yesterday.

The motorist drove incorrectl­y down a slip road to Stanground from Fletton Parkway shortly after midnight. He then collided with the oncoming car, killing all three occupants. A man was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, and of causing death by dangerous driving.

The suspect was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
