Find ecstasy dealers who killed my boy

Mum’s plea after son, 13, bought £2 pills

- By Liz Hull

The mother of a 13- year- old boy who died after taking ecstasy pills pleaded yesterday for the drug dealer to be tracked down.

In a heartbreaking social media post, Tatum Price, 37, wrote: ‘I’m broken, my life is over. Please help find out who sold these drugs to my son.’

Friends say her boy Carson paid £ 2 for pink ‘Donkey Kong’ tablets shaped like the video game character before he collapsed with a seizure.

A couple out walking their dog found the youngster and called 999, but efforts to save him by police and paramedics were in vain. One witness said Carson gave officers the name of the ecstasy dealer before he died. Police confirmed last night that ‘illegal substances’ were a factor in their probe.

Mrs Price, a personal trainer, who has a younger son with Carson’s father Brian – a mechanic – added in her social media message: ‘My life is ruined, my baby gone.’

The tragedy came on Friday at Ystrad Mynach Park, near Caerphilly, South Wales, where schools had just broken up for the easter break.

Carson and other boys walked to a wood where it is said he took up to two and a half tablets at 7.20pm and collapsed shortly afterwards.

Officers from a police station only 300 yards away ran to give first aid and an ambulance was there within minutes.

But Carson was later declared dead at Cardiff’s University hospital of Wales. One friend said: ‘We all knew he was taking ecstasy tablets called Donkey Kong. he told us he had some on him.

‘We left and one of his friends ran up saying he was having a seizure. By the time we got back the ambulance was there but he was dead.’

David West, whose 14-yearold grandson was there, said: ‘his eyes were rolling around and his lips turned purple but he managed to give the name of the boy who supplied him.’

The Price family, who live in nearby hengoed, are said to have visited the scene, where floral tributes have been left.

One, from a woman passerby, said: ‘You have touched my life forever. I’m so sorry we could not save you.’ Friends said Carson was a ‘kind and friendly’ boy who loved music. One tearful girl said: ‘he was excited at having two weeks off school. We all knew he took drugs, he showed them to us.’

In a tribute to their son, the Price family said: ‘Carson was bright and caring, kind and loving. he was a cheeky little boy. he was the best big brother and was loved and will be missed by so many.’

headteacher Chris Parry said staff and pupils at Lewis high School in Pengam, where Carson had been a pupil, were ‘ shocked and devastated’.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Payne, of Gwent Police, said: ‘Although we await official medical confirmation of the cause of death, one of our main lines of enquiry focuses on illegal substances being a contributing factor.’
