Haircut that changed my life for ever
I ENJOYED the article about the Mary Quant models from the Sixties who still look so stylish (Mail). In 1966, when my son John was four and my daughter Michelle was one, I was tired of my very long hair, which needed so much attention. My husband had his hair cut by Leonard of Mayfair and suggested I book an appointment with the fashionable hairdresser who created the hairstyle that launched Twiggy’s model career. Leonard did his magic and I was delighted with my striking new short bob. It was copied by many of my friends who were also young mothers. Like me, they enjoyed the freedom from the demands of styling long hair. I bought myself a Mary Quant mini dress to go with my new look. Today, I have the same hairstyle as Dame Judi Dench and it’s very grey!
