Today’s poem

I WANT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE

-

I know my call’s important, Some voice just told me so, But if no one asks what it’s about Then how are they to know? I want to speak to someone, I really don’t care who, Just connect me to a human voice — Almost anyone will do. Press one for this, press two for that, It’s driving me insane. It could go on for ever Like some crazy Bingo game. They tell me all the things they do, Now I’m really getting cross. None of it’s of any use — I couldn’t give a toss. I type in the secret code ‘That is only known to you’, This comes back unrecognised — Now what am I do? I keep on holding anyway Someone’s bound to answer soon, But all I get is Muzak — That stuff without a tune. In the end, to get some help I decide to make things better. I take the tried and tested path And sit down to write a letter.
