DOS AND DON’TS

-

DO NOT panic if your supplier goes bust. Ofgem will appoint a new supplier in around a week. DO TAKE a meter reading and sit tight. Your supply will not be interrupted and Ofgem promises to safeguard any credit balances you have with the company. DO ASK your new supplier to put you on their cheapest deal as soon as they contact you. DO NOT assume this is the best deal available. Compare it with others on the market. DO NOT switch to a supplier just because it has the lowest price. Check Citizens Advice’s energy suppliers’ customer service ratings. DO READ reviews of firms’ customer service on social media pages or review websites. DO CHOOSE a switching service that rates firms as well as giving the price of deals such as energyhelpline.com. DO NOT choose a firm that has no customer service telephone number.
