A charge too far

MAY I congratulate London mayor Sadiq Khan on his new ultra-low emission zone charges, which are on top of the congestion charge.

He failed to get Oxford Street changed into a bus-free zone, but he soldiers on.

Our tourist trade will be dreadfully affected by the cost of driving in London, and many already struggling shops will close.

But that doesn’t matter, because the empty shops can be turned into new homes, where people will have to live on benefits because there is no longer any work for them in the area. And that is called politics.
