Maybe this chap’s just seen the forecast!
A BURST of April sunshine is likely to put a spring in anyone’s step.
And if you’re a lamb with natural frolicking tendencies, it’s enough to send you leaping skywards.
These joyful scenes from Weardale, County Durham, capture the mood across the country as temperatures look set to soar this bank holiday weekend.
Photographer David Higgins, 49, spotted the lambs ‘charging about’ in their field, taking it in turns to run and leap into the air.
Balmy temperatures are expected to reach the early 20s today and tomorrow, before peaking at 24C (75F) on Saturday – and even 25C (77F) in some spots.
But welcome though they are, the temperatures are not unusual for this time of year. Nicola Maxey, of the Met Office, said the weekend is unlikely to be the hottest Easter on record – with the bar set in 2011 when a high of 27.8C (82F) was recorded on April 23. Miss Maxey issued warnings over high pollen levels in the coming days, which charity Asthma UK said could affect 3.3million.
But the heatwave will not last long. Temperatures are set to dip again on Sunday into Monday as fresher air moves in.
The Met Office said southern England will hold on to warm weather on Sunday, but there could be cloud and light rain further north.
It said: ‘During Easter Monday it may turn cooler and more unsettled across northern and western areas, with stronger winds and outbreaks of heavy rain. Many other areas will stay dry with warm spells of sunshine continuing.’
Average UK temperatures for late April are in the midteens Celsius, or high 50slow 60s Fahrenheit.
