Loaded with bright bramble-fruit flavours and a kick of spice, this one’s a shoo-in for Easter Sunday.
WHITE WINE Friuli Sauvignon Blanc, £9, Marks & Spencer
THE relatively cool region of Friuli is tucked in the northeastern tip of Italy’s bootshaped country.
The Sauvignon Blanc grape loves it here, producing fresh aromatic wines such as this one, full of lemon fruit flavours along with a generous hint of gooseberry. Super-refreshing.
FOOD PAIRING: Seafood pasta.
RED WINE Valley Way Barossa Shiraz, £7.99, Aldi
IF YOU like your red wines on the juicy side, this is a bargain from South Australia’s Barossa Valley. Jam-packed with ripe, bright, blackcurrant flavours and a gentle touch of oak, it’s velvet-soft, with just the right amount of tannins.
FOOD PAIRING: Lamb kebabs.
GIN Chapel Down Pinot Noir Gin, £33.99, thedrinkshop.com
THIS is a gorgeous pale-pink gin made from distilled Pinot Noir grapes by the Kent-based Chapel Down. Infused with rose buds and dried red fruits, it has a fabulous floral aroma, along with a reassuring juniper hit.
