Citizen Shamima

-

WE MAY not like the idea of Shamima Begum being considered for legal aid to fight the withdrawal of her citizenship, but it should be granted.

Foreign criminals are handed legal aid to fight being deported, so why

not her? She was 15 when she joined Islamic State. At that age you can’t make legally binding decisions. Why is she being punished now she has realised her mistake?

She’s being used as an example for others who might have similar ideas. Ms Begum was groomed and, as in other cases where this happens to children, she should receive help and counselling.

RONALD BALL, Farnborough, Hants. CAN someone explain why, apart from benefits, Ms Begum wishes to come back to the UK? She despises our way of life and values.

JEAN AYRES, Bedford. MONEY denied to care for the elderly who built this country, fought for it and paid into it. Cash rationed for schools, hospitals, housing and border controls. Leave the UK to join a terrorist organisation bent on murder and our destruction, and if you want to come back, here’s legal aid funded by the people you hate.
