End of democracy
AFTER decades of exercising my democratic right to vote in elections, I’ve concluded that politicians are largely self-serving once they become MPs. Hence I’m not surprised at their denial of democracy when faced with a referendum result they did not personally vote for, even if their constituents did.
However, I’m amazed and dismayed at the Euro flag-waving, petitionsigning people’s vote advocates who seem blind to the simple fact that if they achieve their fundamental aim of overturning a lawful, democratic majority vote, then all of their future votes will be rendered meaningless.
Democracy will no longer prevail in this country. rALPH P. CHADWICK, Weymouth, Dorset.
