Selfish eco fanatics are full of hot air
LONDON is once again paralysed by the usual rent-a-mob — all that changes are the placards. I support the right of anyone to protest peacefully, but I resent the fact that Extinction Rebellion demonstrations are interrupting working people going about their lawful business. It is time for firm policing and visible leadership from the Mayor of London, rather than the usual gesture politics. The highways of our capital city should be freed from unnecessary obstruction.
TIM RAYMOND, Hythe, Kent. THE Left-wing eco demonstrators disrupting the capital obviously do not have any concerns for those who live and work in London. There are major hospitals in the areas they are disrupting. I travelled by bus this week and roads from Waterloo to the Strand were blocked with vehicles being diverted. Not only did this cause air pollution, it must have prevented ambulances doing their job. It should be illegal for demonstrations or marches to take place where access is needed by the emergency services.
ANTHONY KINDER, London SE17. DOES it go without saying that the eco warriors walked to the protest, do not wear mass-produced clothes, eat only locally grown food and work within walking distance of their homes?
BRIAN FORD, Rainham, Essex. ONE protester says she wants a future for her three daughters. People like her have contributed to overpopulation, the biggest cause of pollution.
JOHN BULKELEY, Shefford, Beds. DO THESE eco fanatics think that, if they managed to get Britain’s carbon emissions down to zero, we would be sitting in a cocoon of pure air surrounded by a mass of pollution?
P. Lacy, Nottingham. WHAT hypocrites these people are. They travel from all corners of the country, wasting valuable resources, to obstruct and interfere with working people trying to earn a living. They are a disgrace. Don’t they comprehend that by their actions they are contributing towards climate change?
Mrs M. LANGLEY, Coventry.
