VAR adds to the drama

I BET there were a fair few Tottenham supporters who hated VAR before last night. Now, they’ll absolutely love it. VAR has had its fair share of criticism this season but it only added to the excitement at the Etihad last night. When Christian Eriksen committed his error by giving the ball away before Manchester City scored what they thought was the winner in stoppage time, the goal being ruled out did not even cross my mind. My guess is it probably didn’t cross many people’s minds. Then VAR popped up to say it was checking the goal for offside. What drama, and it got all of the decisions correct, too.
