The Duke who just can’t stop driving
HE has been off public roads for little over two months.
But Prince Philip was never going to let a new Land Rover just gather dust in the garage, was he? The Duke of Edinburgh took the car out for a spin in the grounds of Windsor Castle yesterday – the first time he has been seen behind the wheel since he was involved in a car crash that left two women injured. Philip, 97, voluntarily surrendered his driving licence after the crash near the Sandringham estate in January.
But although he is barred from public roads, he is still legally allowed to drive on private royal estates. The duke, wearing glasses, was spotted in the castle grounds as the Queen attended the Maundy service at nearby St George’s Chapel.
