Katherine ParKinson, pictured, who has been confirmed to play sonya, the niece of title character Uncle Vanya — who’ll be played by rupert everett, who’s also directing — at theatre royal Bath from July 18. Using a new adaptation of Chekhov’s play by David hare, everett’s production will also star Clemence Poesy, ann Mitchell, John Light, John standing and Marty Cruickshank. Ms Parkinson is treading the boards in Bath this very week in Laura Wade’s olivier award-winning comedy home, i’m Darling, directed by tamara harvey. play Katherine, the princess of France who weds Henry, and also the part of the boy who observes the likes of Pistol and Bardolph sink some ale. The play — which Chambers has set in modern times against a backdrop of British nationalism — runs at The Barn Theatre in Cirencester from May 22. Matt Ray Brown, Alicia Charles, Elin Phillips, Adam Sopp, Sarah Waddell and Jonathan Woolf have also been cast.
