Riches Ri for Notre Dame

-

HOW Ho predictable that millionaires and an billionaires have been falling over ov one another to pledge vast sums to help restore Notre Dame.

Is the cathedral iconic, ancient, magnificent and symbolic? Absolutely. But where are all these obscenely rich individuals when their fellow human beings are dying from want? How much more Christian would it be to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and aid the helpless?

Clearly, a building belonging to one of the richest institutions in the world, situated in the wealthy, fashionable centre of paris, moves the rich to much-publicised largesse. But the suffering of others fails to prompt even a flicker of interest.

G. MATTHEWS, address supplied. PRESIDENT MACRON says Notre Dame will be rebuilt in five years.

However, with the hundreds of laws imposed by the eu relating to building regulations and health and safety, I predict this won’t happen because every builder will have to be trained and show certificates to prove they can climb a ladder safely.
