Empty protest

OH, The irony. Delivering secondhand furniture to a London address this week, I was caught up in the traffic jams caused by the airhead eco-warriors with nothing better to do than cause disruption.

This country contributes a mere 1.2 per cent to global warming gases. Why don’t they target China, which contributes 29 per cent, the u.S., 15 per cent, and Russia, 5 per cent?

Could it be because in Russia and China they would be locked up and the key thrown away, and in the u.S. they would be ignored as cranks?

ROBERT POOLE, Gloucester. CALLING for the elimination of all carbon emissions by 2025 is impossible without a massive disruption to our way of life.

perhaps the eco-warriors are wealthy enough to pay thousands of pounds for a ground source heat pump or a roof covered in solar panels, but most people are reliant on reasonably priced gas and electricity.

If these extinction Rebellion protesters are allowed to get their way, then the poorest in society will be shivering their way through winter. perhaps that is the kind of extinction the protesters wish for.
