Snakes force out president
THE president of Liberia has been forced to abandon his office because of snakes.
A government spokesman said former international footballer George Weah, pictured, was told to stay away until the building was fumigated. Two black snakes were seen emerging from a hole in a wall of the reception area.
Liberia is home to several species of venomous snakes, including the West African gaboon viper, western green mamba and spitting cobra.
The spokesman said pest controllers were taking care of ‘crawling and creeping things’.
Mr Weah, who was World Player of the Year in 1995, played for Chelsea and Manchester City.
