On the run, inmate freed by mistake
POLICE have launched an urgent appeal to find an inmate who was released from prison by mistake.
Gloucestershire Constabulary are trying to locate William Walter Johnson, who is currently wanted for being ‘unlawfully at large’.
The 47-year-old. of Hipton Hill in Evesham, Worcestershire, was released ‘in error’ from HMP Hewell in Redditch, by HM Prison Service.
A spokesman for the prison service said: ‘Releases in error are very rare but we take them extremely seriously and are working closely with Gloucestershire police to bring the offender back into custody quickly.’
Johnson has links to Evesham, Hereford, Ledbury and Tewkesbury.
