Thomas Cook a target

THOMAS Cook is being eyed by potential bidders looking to make a swoop for the 178-year-old company.

The travel firm has been approached by a string of suitors interested in making an offer for its tour operating division as well as the entire business.

Thomas Cook has already put its airline unit up for sale as it battles to pay off its £389m debt mountain amid a string of profit warnings. It is also slashing 300 jobs as it closes stores.

Fosun, the Chinese owner of holiday firm Club Med is among those thought to be interested in making a grab for Thomas Cook’s tour operating arm.
