PSG GET OVER THE LINE AT LAST

-

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN were crowned French champions for the sixth time in seven years yesterday. The title was confirmed after second-placed Lille were held to a goalless draw at Toulouse. PSG then beat Monaco 3-1 in the evening with Kylian Mbappe scoring a stunning hat-trick against his former club. The Parisians had failed to win any of their previous three league games, delaying their coronation by two weeks. In Italy, Juventus won their eighth league title in a row after they beat Fiorentina 2-1 at home on Saturday. The triumph means that star player Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the first man to win the league title in England, Spain and Italy. The trophy will go some of the way to easing the pain of being knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax. In Spain, Barcelona edged ever closer to the title after beating Real Sociedad in the Nou Camp on Saturday evening. The Catalan giants, who are chasing an unprecedented third Treble, are nine points clear of Atletico Madrid with five games to go. Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick for Real Madrid as Los Blancos beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 yesterday. England’s Jadon Sancho scored the opener for Borussia Dortmund as they kept up the pressure on Bayern Munich in Germany with a 4-0 win at Freiburg.
