Peter Kay takes tram ride for a rare outing
PETER Kay was pictured in public for the first time in a year yesterday.
The Bolton comedian posed for a photograph with two tram workers in Blackpool – the first sighting since his surprise appearance at a charity screening of his BBC sitcom Car Share in April last year.
Kay, 45, was forced to cancel his nationwide arena tour in December 2017, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances’ in his family. The comic said his ‘family must always come first’ and the decision to disappoint his fans was ‘not taken lightly’.
The tour, which was set to run from this month until June, marked Kay’s return to the stage after an eight-year hiatus. He had admitted returning to stand-up was a ‘terrifying’ prospect, but he had missed being in front of a live crowd.
The Heritage Tram Tours joked on Twitter: ‘We do love a celebrity passenger on our tours, when we can’t get one Peter Kay will do instead! He kindly allowed a photo with the driver and conductor on Boat 600 this afternoon.’
