IN THIS one-off special, the team ride the wave that has seen plant-based food soaring in popularity. Meat-lover and pig farmer Jimmy Doherty (pictured far right with Matt Tebbutt and Kate Quilton) heads to America to see if he can go meatfree for a week in a country known for its meaty fare. He also hears about efforts to cut down on cows’ carbon emissions, and visits a lab where they ‘grow’ fake meats to see if he can stomach a poultry-free chicken nugget. With meat alternatives on the rise, Matt finds out why they cost so much, Kate looks into the secretive science of non-dairy cheese, while Dr Helen Lawal asks if it’s safe to raise children as vegan.
