CHANNEL 4 TO SHOW WOMEN’S MOTOR RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
THE new female-only motor racing championship, W Series, has struck a live free-to-air deal with Channel 4 to broadcast its first season, which starts at Hockenheim a week on Saturday. W Series will feature five Britons among a field fighting for a share of £1.15million.
Sportsmail understands W Series talked to the BBC, ITV, Sky and BT before plumping for Channel 4. Ex-Formula One star David Coulthard (left), will commentate. Pete Andrews, head of sport at Channel 4, said: ‘We are hoping this will bring more motorsport fans to women’s sport and more women to motorsport.’
