Change UK loses second candidate over tweets

-

A SECOND Change UK candidate has quit within 24 hours of the party’s launch after it emerged he made offensive comments about black women.

Joseph russo’s resignation comes just a day after another of the party’s candidates, Ali Sadjady, was forced to resign after it was revealed he said that romanian pickpockets in London ‘kind of makes me want Brexit’.

Mr russo said he had stepped down as a Change UK candidate for Scotland for his ‘ mental health’ but the party said his departure was agreed because of ‘offensive’ historic tweets.

in January 2012, he wrote: ‘Black people scare me. i put this down to be [sic] chased through Amsterdam by a crazed black wh***.’ Two years earlier, he tweeted that Gary Glitter’s arrest by police smacked of ‘low hanging fruit’ for police. Glitter was later jailed for abusing children.

And four years ago, Mr russo said MP Anna Soubry looked like ‘[Margaret] Thatcher 2.0’ and questioned her Conservative voting record on benefits.
