BRIAN DE PALMA’S masterly crime story stars Al Pacino (pictured) as a crook who tries to go straight, but walks a knife edge of temptation among his old associates in New York. Pacino is excellent, as you would expect, as is Sean Penn as Carlito’s sleazy, corrupt-tothe-core lawyer.
