A better world
I HAVE no problem with people objecting to the disruption caused by Extinction Rebellion actions, but to call them ‘ineffably smug’ and mock their ‘wonderful, marvellous consciences’ (Mail), dismissing their actions as futile, proves how necessary their work is.
They are calling for a cleaner, more sustainable world. If they are wrong, we will have a richer, more attractive world. What happens if those who dismiss them are wrong? I know which world I prefer. BARBARA NORTH,
Guildford, Surrey. DO THE Extinction Rebellion members have their own wind or solar power supply at home, a well for water and allotments to grow their own food?
Naturally, none of them own cars — even electric ones, because of the eco- cost of manufacturing metal, plastic, synthetics and batteries.
I hope world- travelling Dame Emma Thompson got her wooden knife and fork from a natural source, not a retail outlet selling manufac-tured items. And how did they get the pink boat to Oxford Circus?
Were they just bored luvvies and the privileged having a laugh?
