Aviva’s UK chief quits
AVIVA’S UK insurance boss Andy Briggs has stepped down following the appointment of group chief executive Maurice Tulloch.
Just weeks after Briggs missed out on the top job, it was announced he will be on gardening leave until he leaves on october 23 as Tulloch, who was international chief executive, leads a review of the UK businesses ‘to ensure the appropriate management structure’.
Briggs, who joined Aviva in 2015 following its acquisition of Friends Life, where he had been chief executive, has been replaced on an interim basis by Angela Darlington, Aviva’s group chief risk officer. Tulloch said: ‘Aviva benefited enormously from Andy’s experience and we wish him well.’
