SALAH READY AFTER TIME OUT

- By MIKE KEEGAN

MO SALAH flew to a celebrity party in New York this week in the thick of Liverpool’s battle for the Premier League title, but his club are confident he will be fit and ready to face Huddersfield tomorrow. The Egyptian rubbed shoulders with Hollywood stars, music icons and political heavyweights for the renowned Time 100 Gala in the Big Apple on Tuesday night — 72 hours before Jurgen Klopp’s title chasers host lowly Huddersfield Town at Anfield. Salah was named one of the world’s most influential people by the US magazine and, wearing a tuxedo, was snapped alongside Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke at the historic Lincoln Center. Liverpool have kept tightlipped on travel arrangements for the 6,600-mile trip but it is understood a number of steps were taken to ensure the 26-year-old was kept fresh for tomorrow night’s key fixture. Salah is thought to have remained on English time and, given that he does not drink and has a reputation as a model pro, there were no concerns over his night out. It is thought that he missed one light training session at Melwood. His manager Klopp is relaxed about the situation, and last week explained how important it was for Salah to attend the gala because of what it meant in terms of breaking down barriers. In his interview with the magazine, in which he was one of six cover stars for the annual issue, Salah discussed the importance of gender equality. ‘We need to change the way we treat women in our culture,’ he told Time. ‘I support women more than I did before, because I feel like they deserve more than what they’re given at the moment. That has to be, it’s not optional.’
