KOMPANY AND SILVA LUCKY NOT TO SEE RED
VINCENT KOMPANY should have been booked when he tugged back Marcus Rashford in the first few minutes. It was a clear foul by the defender (right) as the United man chased a ball over the top, but it was missed by the officials. I can only assume Andre Marriner and his assistant were watching the ball. We can argue that Kompany was the last man, but as Rashford did not have control of the ball it was not an obvious goalscoring chance, meaning a yellow card should have been issued. Kompany was booked moments later for a bodycheck on Rashford. So the City captain was lucky not to go within 10 minutes. And in the second half David Silva was fortunate not to see red when he challenged for a high ball and his studs landed on Andreas Pereira’s chest, endangering the safety of his opponent.
