IT’S THE RIGHT CALL ON HAMMERS CLASH

-

It was an error to schedule the women’s Fa Cup final for the same weekend as a Premier League programme, but once that mistake had been made it is right that west Ham’s match with southampton goes ahead as scheduled — even if it means fans having to chose between that and west Ham’s women at wembley. west Ham wanted to move their league game to 12.30pm so fans could then make the final five hours later. the Premier League said the inconvenience would be too great for fans who had already made travel plans, particularly those from southampton. Fair point. when west Ham women played Manchester City in January, for instance, the gate was 640, against the 58,245 average at the London stadium for Premier League games. so the majority interest prevails — and maybe plan better in future.
