TV’s Susanna splits from her £45m tycoon lover

TV presenter Susanna Reid has split from her football boss boyfriend, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The 48-year- old ITV star found love with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, 53, last year and the couple were seen cosying up to one another as they watched the Premier League team on Saturday.

But last night a friend of the presenter, who has helped turn ITV’s Good Morning Britain into a ratings hit, told the Mail: ‘ It’s very sad, but they just couldn’t make it work.

‘They both work extremely hard and there wasn’t enough time for romance.’

A spokesman for Miss Reid confirmed that the couple have split but declined to comment further.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant became close with Mr Parish last year, following her break-up with Dominic Cotton, the father of her three children, in 2014.

The couple, who bonded over their shared love of Crystal Palace, were first pictured together in November 2018 after a romantic mini-break in Paris.

The friend added: ‘They met through their mutual support for Palace and will stay good friends. They watched the match together on Saturday even though the romance was over.’

The friend insisted that no one else was involved in the break-up. Mr Parish, who has two grown-up daughters with his ex-wife Carmel, made an estimated fortune of £45million through his computer graphics business and became Crystal Palace chairman in 2010.

Miss Reid split from journalist Mr Cotton, her partner of 16 years, shortly after her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, where she was partnered with Kevin Clifton – who has been divorced three times and is now dating his most recent dance partner Stacey Dooley.

Miss Reid said it was unfair to place all the blame for her split on Strictly, though she admitted it was a ‘parallel universe of sequins and stardust’.

‘Over 16 years, you’re going to change a bit, both of you,’ she said after the split. ‘Would it have happened anyway? I don’t know. I don’t analyse it.’

At the time, Miss Reid was spending half the working week at the BBC’s Salford studios to host BBC Breakfast, waking up at 3.30am to present the three-hour show before making the 200mile trip back to her family in London.
