Model ‘trips on laces’ and dies

A MODEL collapsed and died on the catwalk during a fashion week show, after apparently tripping over his shoelaces.

Tales Soares, 26, stumbled while turning at the end of the runway and fell face-first to the ground.

Those in the audience at first thought it was part of the show, until paramedics raced to help him. The model could not be saved and was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

A newspaper in the city claimed Mr Soares had tripped on the long straps of his sandals, but the cause of death remained unconfirmed last night.

Fashion brand Ocksa, whose show Mr Soares was taking part in, said its entire team was shocked at the death, during Sao Paulo Fashion Week on Saturday.
