MADHMOON TIPPED FOR STRONG BID IN GUINEAS

- By MARCUS TOWNEND

IRISH raider Madhmoon has been cut to 6-1 for Saturday’s Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket after it was confirmed he will represent Sheik Hamdan Al Maktoum. The colt will try to give 86-year-old trainer Kevin Prendergast a second win in the opening Classic of the season, 32 years after he landed it with Nebbiolo. Madhmoon, who will be ridden by Chris Hayes, won both his races as a two-year-old, but was beaten half a length by Never No More on his Leopardstown comeback this month. Angus Gold,

racing manager to Sheik Hamdan, said: ‘He will certainly stay and now it is a question of whether he is good enough.’ NICKY HENDERSON could run Altior in the 1965 Chase at Ascot in November before a tilt at the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. Altior made it a record 19 straight wins over obstacles in the Celebration Chase at Sandown on Saturday.
