LUTON and BARNSLEY will be promoted without kicking a ball if third-placed Portsmouth lose at home to Peterborough and Sunderland fail to win at Fleetwood in their games in hand tomorrow. Luton’s title hopes were dealt a blow by Burton who came from behind to beat Mick Harford’s side 2-1. Barnsley’s 2-1 victory over Blackpool moved them level with Luton on 91 points. RACE FOR THE PLAY-OFFS DONCASTER and PETERBOROUGH are fighting for the final play-off place. Victory for Doncaster over Coventry on the final day would secure sixth place but a point would be enough if Peterborough fail to beat Portsmouth tomorrow. ACCRINGTON, ROCHDALE and BRISTOL ROVERS all secured survival but seven teams are battling to avoid joining Bradford in League Two. SCUNTHORPE, WALSALL and PLYMOUTH occupy the other three relegation spaces with SOUTHEND, AFC WIMBLEDON, WYCOMBE and SHREWSBURY still in danger.
