For sale at £800, Posh’s ‘shop carrier bag’
WE ALL know that anything with a designer label usually comes with an equally fancy price tag.
And while Victoria Beckham is renowned for her couture clothing, one item for sale on her official website has left shoppers scratching their heads. The mother-of-four is selling a bag, modelled on the carrier bags she gives to customers at her flagship London store, for £ 95. Indeed, the 45-year-old’s website openly admits that the white leather shoulder bag, which has red drawstring handles, is ‘based on the branded Victoria Beckham bag given to customers who shop in our Dover Street store’. The bag, which has a 100 per cent lamb’s wool lining, is a ‘playful nod’ to the brand’s ten-year anniversary. It was modelled as part of Miss Beckham’s spring/summer 2018 runway collection, and was worn ‘clutched loosely against the body’ of the models.
If fashionistas are still not tempted to part with far more than the average UK weekly wage to buy it, the website adds that the bag is ‘made from smooth white nappa that has been lined with cotton for an extra soft feel.’
But don’t expect too much from it because ‘it has a simple construction, with contrasting red drawstring pulls and a thin red leather strap to wear the bag across the shoulder.’ It continues: ‘The Victoria Beckham logo and ‘36 Dover Street’, our flagship store in London, has been delicately embossed in black on the front of the bag’. Mrs Beckham, pictured, is not alone in charging eye-watering prices for fairly simple products. Earlier this year, Louis Vuitton launched a tint leather case, big enough to hold two lipsticks. It costs £1,000. Described by Vogue magazine as the new ‘it-bag’, French designer Nicolas Ghesquière’s creation is said to be selling well in some countries.
