Tax the rich

instEAD of imposing an extra tax on the over-50s to pay towards care costs — which will rebound badly for the Government, as the dementia tax did at the last General Election — why doesn’t the Chancellor take the winter fuel allowance and bus passes from those paying the higher rate of income tax?

HMRC has all of this information and could quite easily supply it. i am sure that Labour would be all too ready to do this, as it is robbing the well-off. BARRY LAZENBURY,
