RUDIGER SEASON OVER

- SAMI MOKBEL

CHELSEA’S Antonio Rudiger has been ruled out for the rest of the season after knee surgery. The defender had the procedure in Rome yesterday to discover the extent of damage caused to his left knee after he limped off at Manchester United (above). It is feared Rudiger has suffered meniscus damage, which would mean a 10-week rehabilitation programme. The fourth-placed Blues have two Premier League games left and face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals. Having missed two weeks with another knee injury, Rudiger was rushed back for Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, but the move backfired and now he faces a fight to be fit for pre-season. Chelsea still intend to extend Rudiger’s contract. Andreas Christensen will deputise alongside David Luiz at centre back.
