Javid beefs up moped chase rules
POLICE officers chasing after moped gangs will be given greater protection from prosecution.
Controversial tactics have seen officers knock riders from their bikes in a bid to secure arrests, but there have been fears they could later be prosecuted.
Home Secretary Sajid Javid said the new proposals would send a ‘clear message’ to criminals.
Rules would make it clear that officers should not be not be held accountable for a suspect’s driving, providing the pursuit is justified and proportionate.
