Anglo American revolt
inVESTOrS pushed back at miner anglo american over the appointment of a new director from brazil.
more than 26pc of votes cast at its annual general meeting opposed the election of marcelo bastos as a non-executive director.
The rebellion was led by indian billionaire anil agarwal, boss of rival Vedanta resources, who owns more than 19pc of anglo. He wants anglo to have more representation from South africa, where the company began and still mines.
The company has only one South african representative on its 11-strong board at present. anglo chairman Stuart Chambers said the next executive it appoints will be from, or linked to, South africa.
