Rosie: It took a year to lose baby weight

MOST new mothers struggle to shed their ‘baby weight’ after giving birth – and it’s no different for supermodels, as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley insists.

The British catwalk star, 32, has revealed it took her a year to get her body back to ‘normal’ after the birth of her first child Jack with fiance, actor Jason Statham, in June 2017.

‘It was a struggle for me – I gained a lot of weight, a lot more than people around me expected,’ she said. ‘I do not regret it but I had a long way to go once I was cradling the baby.’

The model, who has her own range of lingerie for Marks & Spencer, said it took 12 months of ‘training and discipline’ to regain her slim physique.

She told Harper’s Bazaar: ‘It took a year to the month to lose every single pound. even after that, it took several more months before I could go on a shoot and feel good.’ Miss Huntington-Whiteley shows off her figure in the late designer Karl Lagerfeld’s final creations for Chanel in a shoot for the magazine.

She said becoming a mother had been ‘life-changing’ and she felt ‘much more confident within my own skin and… about who I am’.

She added: ‘now my perception of what I thought of as feeling great and looking great has shifted. I’m stronger, both physically and mentally.

‘I feel, probably for the first time, that I’m a woman rather than a girl. It’s been a really great shift to see myself in the mirror and to be OK with the imperfections.’

Miss Huntington-Whiteley also said she feels a responsibility to leave her 9.3million Instagram feeling ‘positive’ after viewing her posts.

The June issue of Harper’s Bazaar is on sale on today.
